So, about 3 weeks ago, my computer decided it didn't like connecting to the internet any more. I was all "what's the dillio?" and it was all "nuffin" so I brought it into the place where I bought it. They took a look at it, apparently the motherboard caught on fire whilst they were running tests, and they told me they would send it back to the company who would in turn fix the board, and that it was all covered by my warranty. "One week" the technician said, "One week and you'll have your computer back good as new" he said it through surgically whitened teeth, shiny fat around his face jiggling in delight. "One Week".
One week later, I called them, to see what was happening. They told me that they were awaiting it's arrival, every other day I would call, I would get the same response, and a due date for an essay or assignment would pass by, with me struggling to make it using only the limited access I had to library computers. This went on for 3 weeks, my internet bill accumulating without any actual use. until finally, 2 days ago, I receive a call saying that it was in, they just had to run some tests, and it would be ready the next day. Labor would be 65.00.
Hold on a second.
I checked my warranty, spoke with someone else from the same store, and both confirmed that my warranty covered parts, shipping and labor. I argued with him, but eventually decided that it wasn't worth the bother. I accepted his quote, and set aside the money for the next day. So I called yesterday, he told me that it was almost ready, and that it wouldn't cost more than 100.00
Wait wait wait.
Didn't he quote me a price yesterday? didn't he specifically say that it would be 65.00? I argued, he maintained that he had said no such thing, after a while I decided "fuck it, I'll pay the hundred bucks". So I go to the store around 3:30pm, when he told me to come. It isn't ready yet, and he assures me that the final price will be 105.00
...I'm not even going to say it.
The computer is picked up around 4:45pm, I pay the bastard his fee, and I forever cease any financial relations with the company.
Although there were some minor issues (My tower appears to have been the victim of an onslaught of screw drivers, they failed to return my Windows XP disc, and my sound card is no longer functional) my computer is now sitting here, fixed , and ready to be used heavily as I stay home from work, sick, trying to complete a couple of assignments.
Anyways, Ja Ne.
