So this evening I spent a few hours with Sarrah and a couple of other people (Namely Ed and Emma) watching the first season of Sailor Moon.
God damn I love that show.
And not in some "sayiulur muun is suupa numba one!" kind of way. I don't think it's the pinnacle of art or anything dumb like that. But for some reason, I'm addicted to it, and because of that I will be humming along to "fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight" in my head for the next few weeks.
Well, now that I've got that out of the way, I'd like to take a second to ramble on about some other crap.
I've been really wanting to get a few graphic novels lately, and should I have a good place to get them and a decent viewer to use (hint hint Zack), I would probably download them. Not because I don't intend to buy them, if I could go somewhere that would sell these I'd gladly drop the 10 bucks or whatever they wanted for them, but given that I live in buttfuck nowehere for a couple more months, that's not happening.
Empowered Volume 1.
I know, I know. This looks like something that Marvel might whip up one night as masturbatory fodder for middle aged comic book nerds too embarrassed to buy Hentai. To be honest, that's what I wrote it off as at first as well, but I've heard nothing but good things about it from a few reputable sources, so I figure it's worth a try.
Besides, just from looking at it I know a couple of things. It doesn't take itself too seriously, it has an art style that's a little bit manga and a little bit western comic (which I like) and I really like the character design (har har har).
This is one of those comics that I'm sure carries a certain stigma with buying. I know through a few sources that the comic is pretty blatant with it's use of fan service, but I also know that it looks pretty easy to read, and I could go for that.
Plus I spot at least two half naked girls on that cover. I may have standards, but I'm still a guy.
Transmetropolitan Volume 1
Transmetropolitan is one of those comics that I talk about, despite having only read about a chapter here and there. I know enough about it to know that I really like it, but not enough to know everything that goes on in it. I haven't really had the chance to sit down and just read a whole volume beginning to end, and that's what I'm going for.
This one might be a little easier to find, netwise and storewise, as I've seen it on shelves before, and just neglected to buy it. I guess it was the fact that I haven't read enough of it to know if it would be worth the money. I have a strange habit that way. I'll buy movies or food or music that I've never seen, tasted or heard before, but for some reason when it comes to books, I need to know something about them first. And not just a little bit based on the synopsis on the back.
This is above all a habit I am going to need to break.
The Killing Joke
This one, however will be a little more difficult, in that it's out of goddamned print. Andrew saw a copy at Fan Expo last year and as far as I know is beating himself up over it now.
It's pretty hard to consider yourself a Batman fan if you haven't read it anyway.

Didn't you make fun of Chris and I for wanting to marathon Sailor Moon a while back on the ownicon forums? You know, I'd check, but ownicon seems to be down right now, fucking dreamhost.
Obviously for mac, FFView is the way to go there. Most downloaded graphic novels are in CBZ or CBR format, which is pretty much just a zip or rar file, but you can drop them right into FFView. I guess for PC you want CDisplay or CDisplayEx, since you probably won't be doing this on Sarrah's laptop.
It took me a while, but I did plow through all of Transmet, and it was beautiful. I've also had Watchmen downloaded since December, but I haven't had time to read it yet.
As for where to find the files? isoHunt, naturally.
Oh, actually you didn't say shit in that thread about us watching Sailor Moon. I guess I just kinda expect it from you.
