So I finished Transmetropolitan. I don't think I've ever gotten through reading a comic as fast as I did this one, but that's all for a very good reason I guess.
Without spoiling anything ( for the few people that actually look at this, and intend to read Transmet) it has one of the most satisfying endings to any series I've ever read.
I've been thinking about movie adaptations of it, and though Ellis has said that he would only do it if he had control over the production, I think that it could work out pretty well. Given, it would have to be cast pretty damned well. I came across a fictional casting list made by some fan that sort of won me over, and I think that they hit most of them dead on:
SPIDER: Tim Roth.
CHANNON: Uma Thurman
YELENA: Fairuza Balk
THE SMILER: Gary Sinise
ROYCE: Vincent D'Onofrio
DET. NEWTON: Gina Torres
FRED CHRIST: David Spade
VITA SEVERN: Catherine Zeta Jones
Except maybe David Spade. I think that visually he could pull it off, but he would have to do some really good acting, and I just don't think I've ever seen him act well enough to pull off Fred Christ. I would maybe substitute him out for Steve Buscemi. Actually, that would rock.
But anyway, it's back to my pit to continue work on Killing TIme, which, if all goes as planned, will have all of it's flat colours laid down by tonight.

I was honestly about to cry as I was reading Transmet's ending, and then it turned into an angry fist-shake at the screen, but one of joy, of course. That was fucking brilliant.
Although I had to google a couple of those names, I agree with that casting. For example, I didn't know the Royce guy by name, but a quick google image search is all that it took to show that he was born for the role. And Buscemi would be a fucking perfect Fred Christ.
You seriously gotta figure out how to turn word verification off, it sucks ass.

Hah, I totally cast Uma as Channon in my pretend movie version of Transmet, too. I had Paul Giamatti as Royce, though, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Fred Christ. I think I wanted Christina Ricci as Yelena, and I can't remember who else I picked. I even worked on a treatment for an adaptation of the first 2 or 3 books, but that is because I am a NERD.
