I should really be doing dishes or homework right now, but I'm lazy, so I'll do this instead.
I just went and dropped about $100.00 on textbooks, which is a lot for me, but looking at how much Sarrah and Andrew have/will have to spend on books, it's nothing. I had to buy a course kit, which is essentially a book full of photocopies out of other textbooks, which is the sort of thing that the teachers handed out for free back in highschool. I guess once you hit University though, they have to start paying for copyright usage and stuff though, so that was $40.00. I also had to buy two books, each $25.00 for my Natural Science class (technology and culture or some shit like that) called "Silicon Snake Oil" and "Visions". They're both about technoculture and the internet, so they aren't entirely boring, to me at least.
I bought new strings for my bass, and I broke the G while I was tuning them, god damn it. And as if that weren't enough, the E doesn't fit through my tuning peg, so I guess I have to buy Extra Light Guage next time, gahhhhh.
I just got Metallica's new album (hence the title of the post) and I was very VERY pleasantly surprised. St.Anger was such a shitstorm and a let-down that I wasn't expecting anything much, so you can imagine how nice of a surprise it was when this album rocked my face completely off. I mean, maybe it's because my standards for them have dropped a little, because I just wanted something better than their last catastrophe, but it is easily, in my opinion, the best album they've put out since 1991, and hell, at times, it's better than some of the stuff on the black album. Especially good are the tracks "The Judas Kiss" "All Nightmare Long" and "The Unforgiven III" Although, I am listening to "Suicide and Redemption" right now and it is probably the best thing I've heard them do since Master of Puppets, so all in all, a really really good album, and I am willing to forget St.Anger altogether. If you're a fan of Metallica, Metal in general, or for that matter, good things, I would highly recommend this album. I know I will be buying the special edition when it's out. Wow, the album just finished, and I think I am beginning to consider it for a position as one of my favorites in the genre. Jesus.
So anyway, I think I will go get back to work. Oh also, I am going to go see Cake on the 25th at the Sound Academy. Awesome. Tickets are still available if anyone who reads this wants to come.
