Quick Update

Okay, so I am going to be extraordinarily busy the next few days, to the point that I will be checking my Email and that's it, so I just thought I'd jot this down before I forget.

This weekend (most likely Saturday) I am going to attempt at 24 hour comic. I know I kind of missed the official day or whatever, but I am gonna try anyway. I figure 24 pages, 24 hours, no planning whatsoever, might be fun. At the very least I will have an account of my mind slowly descending into madness as my fingers fall off.

I am also going to try to do NaNoWriMo this year. I tried last year and got to like 6400 words before giving up, and this year is even more hectic, but who knows? My school might be going on strike, which would mean that I have to find something to fill that time anyhow, so we'll see.

So yeah, I have to go buy some folders and cardstock and what have you for the assignments that are due tomorrow. See you on the other side.

That is awesome, I'd love to see a 24 hour comic from you. If you do read this comment, my advice is that you start within an hour or so of waking up to minimize tiredness in the later hours of the project. I got up at 11 and started right at noon, which made it easier to keep track of my time, but that happened naturally and is kind of trivial as far as tips go.

You're probably better off as the hare than the tortoise: drawing fast and taking breaks, instead of slow-and-steady one page per hour progress. Even during a break you can still come up with ideas. Just don't take breaks the whole time you're ahead, obviously. My hand was falling off after 19 hours but if I only had one page left at that point instead of five, I would've kept going. I just wasn't a fast enough artist, and couldn't force myself to leave things sketchy—I doubted I'd come back to any page I had already put down.

Although to be fair, it might be better to get advice from somebody who didn't fail both of the times he attempted it.

Sucks about your school, since as I understand it a strike is incredibly shitty when you're no longer in elementary school and you're paying a fortune to be there. But if it means you get to participate in the suicidal creative projects I live by, I will not cry for your loss.
