I'm not even ashamed to say that I still like Linkin Park. I know, I know that their fanbase primarily consists of emo kids, fat girls with blue hair and nose rings, and 13 year old girls. I know all of this, and I know they haven't released an album since 2003, and that their music is dated, and yet I still like them, why? I don't know, maybe there's some innate attachment to them that has something to do with zack and chris, or maybe they've been brainwashing me for 5 years, whatever it is, I still like them, and that's that.
So, I am probably one of seven people, piercing free, over the age of 13 who doesn't listen to Fallout boy or Three Days Grace, who is extremely excited to say that their new album , Minutes to Midnight, is coming out in May.
w00t.
according to the wikipedia article, they've dropped their nu metal stuff (thank god) and are going in a different direction. In the title link you can get to a clip of their first single (releasing in april) called "What I've done". I must say, it sounds cool. It's softer than I expected, it doesn't sound like they have fallen prey to the whole emo thing yet (although, it IS a small clip), and Chesters voice is definately different.
Anyway, I just thought I would point that out. Let me just say though, that I really hope this album is good, honestly. It has the potential to be good and different (looking at what Mike Shinoda has been doing) but it also has the potential to fall into the pit of stupid recurring repetitive emo-core /pop-"punk" garbage that is most of todays popular music. I REALLY hope it doesn't though, and I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt here.
Whoo!
